The death report below of the death of Emma Sarah Sevedge Gudgel has a minor problem. The report from my aunt Edna Gudgel Townsend says that Emma was a house wife for 42 years. As Emma was 85 when she died means that she was married when she was 42 which is obviously incorrect. My dad, her first son, was born in 1893 I think. My thinking is that obituaries and things from memory can not be always trusted for accuracy.
Soon some important information from Vivian Gudgel about Emma's ancestors. I hope she might post it but if not I will do it when I get the time.
What it is clears up a long standing mystery about our ancestors on Emma's side of the family. Later.

Emma Sarah Gudgel death record
Click on picture to get a full page picture.
Death record of Emma Sarah Sevedge Gudgel who moved to California in 1930 where the family became prominent in the area around Chowchilla. Chowchilla is between Madera and Merced. Edna Townsend her daughter said she was the daughter of Mary Epps and William Sevedge. I have a picture of William Sevedge with the family but Mary Epps was not in it. Emma was the oldest child in the picture and I thought she was 16 years old when the picture was taken. There has been controversy in the family relating to an Indian heritage. As this picture does not have a picture of Mary Epps there is no way that I know of to confirm if the Indian came through Mary. Someone told me once that they didn't ask Grandma if she was Indian just which tribe. Post something about your family and also become an author so you can edit information on the blog. Josephine Gudgell Spencer
I found this picture in my files and I had forgotten it. I don't know where I got it or from whom. But I thought it worth putting up because it is such a nice picture. Who ever gave it to me did the identification.

Lucinda Thurman Gudgel
Click on the picture for a larger picture.
Do you know who Lucinda is? She is an ancestor of many Gudgels. William Gudgel was the last son of old Andrew Gudgel. He was with Andrew when Andrew moved to Indiana from Kentucky. He must have stayed on in the cabin built by Andrew. This picture of his widow was taken with Lucinda sitting in front of the cabin probably about 1890 although I have not checked the date of her death. This picture was an albumen print from Walter Harris who lived not far from Lincolns home in Illinois. I received several valuable pictures from him and I am eternally grateful. More on this later. boB's archives has a picture of this cabin just before it was demolished in the 1940's I think.. But this is the earliest picture I know of any Gudgel. This albumen print was in very bad shape. Albumen prints do not last very long compared to other kinds. I was lucky to get it from Walter before it was totally gone. This web page will be a good place for others to put their familiar pictures and information. This pi Sign up and post your family history.

Doyal Gudgel is the son of Marion Floyd Gudgel. Doyal has 4 children. Dianne , Tom (jr) who lives about 3 miles from me. and boB who operates the gudgel.org web page where he keeps all the archives from people who send it. The difference between this and his is everyone can post and correct information on the web page here. And last but not least Robin Gudgel involved in making alternative energy equipment.

Wikipedia for Gudgel descendants created.
Doyal Gudgel Sr.
August 23, 1921
The place to look for information about Gudgel. This will be a place to put everything about the Gudgels. Essentially a Wikipedia for Gudgel. Let Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines keep our family records. A sort of cloud computing. Each person will maintain their own records like Wikipedia does. Like Wikipedia participants will also have the opportunity to correct to correct other errors too. Why pay genealogy.com to find and keep our records. This is the first to be published on AndrewGudgel.blogspot.com so much has to be done. I hope this will be the place to come for any information about Gudgel
Have a nice day.
